Training Contracts


Application process

Our application process for a training contract commencing in March or September 2022 and March or September 2023 is now open and closes on 8 August 2021.  We will be conducting interviews in late August – early September 2021 and successful candidates will be asked to attend an Assessment Centre in late September 2021.

We operate a rotational “seat” system whereby you will spend six months with different fee earners to enable you to experience the different areas of practice within the firm (private client, real estate, charities, commercial and dispute resolution). As a trainee you will work closely with a senior lawyer, so that you will be involved in your supervisor’s work and learn how matters are handled on a day to day basis.


Choice of law school

If you have studied a non-law degree, you will need to complete the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) and the Legal Practice Course (LPC).  Law graduates need only complete the LPC.

We require all non-law candidates who have accepted a training contract prior to starting law school to study the GDL at BPP (at their London or any of their UK regional centres).  If you have extenuating circumstances which may affect where you can study the GDL, we can discuss this with you.

Law Graduates are also required to study the LPC at BPP and we require students to take the following electives:

·         Private Client

·         Advanced Commercial Property

·         Private Acquisitions

You must obtain a pass (or better) for both the GDL (if required) and LPC, both of which you will have completed prior to the September in the year in which your training contract will start. We will meet the cost of all law school fees (assuming no local authority grant can be obtained) for those who accept a training contract with us for any law school year they have not already completed before accepting the offer.
