Maurice Turnor Gardner LLP is proud to announce its wins and industry recognition at the prestigious Society Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP) ceremony on 8 September 2016:
  • Winner:  Philanthropy Team of the Year, led by partners Ceris Gardner, Emma-Jane Weider and Jennifer Chambers
  • Winner: Young Practitioner of the Year, Claire Weeks
  • Finalist: Trusted Advisor of the Year, Clare Maurice

Over 650 private client practitioners attended the event at the Westminster Park Plaza Hotel in London, UK to celebrate standout firms and individuals. “Winning a STEP Private Client Award has proved to be a clear mark of excellence as entries go through a rigorous, practitioner-led judging process to select the best in the industry,” said STEP.

Claire Weeks advises trustees, banks and high-net worth individuals on tax and trust planning and in particular on international wealth planning structures. Claire’s advice to trustees, financial institutions and high-net worth individuals is focused on bespoke multi-jurisdictional wealth planning strategies, invariably involving complex cross-border structures and international tax and trust issues. She also advises on general trust issues, contentious matters and on the establishment of UK charities and related issues. Claire graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in Law and trained and qualified as a solicitor at Baker & McKenzie LLP.  She joined Maurice Turnor Gardner LLP in October 2013.  She won the STEP Young Practitioner of the Year award 2017 and is one of eprivate client's Top 35 under 35.

Philanthropy and Charities Team

MTG is known particularly for the way it connects philanthropy with charity and private wealth. Its focus is high profile and extremely high value transactions in the philanthropy and charity fields, and it specialises in innovative international structures to facilitate these.

MTG partner Emma-Jane Weider said: “Today’s donors face a multitude of sophisticated options and complicated choices in determining how to achieve their philanthropic goals and we work in partnership with our clients, listening to their needs and finding sophisticated, creative and comprehensive solutions.  We are particularly proud to be recognised by our peers with this award.”

Clare Maurice was a finalist in the Trusted Advisor of the Year award which recognises an outstanding individual in any discipline servicing private clients or advisors.  "To be a Finalist is a great achievement, especially given that this category is by third-party nomination only and voting on the shortlist was exclusively made by the STEP Panel of Experts and Presiding Judges", said STEP.
