Alice Gardiner is an Associate in the Private Wealth team.

Alice advises on a wide range of private client areas including philanthropy, estate planning and Wills, probate and immigration applications.

She has been involved in advising both individual clients and trustees on high value and complex matters dealing with onshore and offshore assets and structures.

Alice studied Law at the Open University alongside working in her previous role as a paralegal at Withers LLP. She trained at Maurice Turnor Gardner LLP and joined the Private Wealth team upon her qualification in December 2020.

Expertise

Alice advises UK and international clients on a wide range of their UK immigration issues. Recently, she has focused on late admissions to the EU Settlement Scheme and the implications of Brexit generally on the UK’s immigration system.

Alice’s Immigration experience also includes:

Assisting a non-UK domiciled client in a sustained and complex appeal to obtain financial compensation from a private bank following an incorrect taxable remittance of funds to the UK
Advising foreign clients on responding to property tax investigations conducted by HMRC
Settling several UK trusts following the separation of wealth due to family conflict
Dealing with a contentious UK probate following the suicide of a wealthy client with no UK based family

Alice’s philanthropy experience includes:

Advising charity trustees on potential conflict and diversity of investment issues regarding the gift of a shareholding
Merging two similar charities and winding up the smaller charity
Advising charities on their administrative changes and liaising with the Charity Commission to achieve this
