Stuart advises on a wide range of matters affecting high net worth individuals, trustees, beneficiaries and charities. 

His areas of particular focus include estate planning and Wills, lasting powers of attorney, the establishment of UK charities and their ongoing compliance requirements, UK taxation planning for those intending to either come to or leave the UK and the creation and ongoing administration of structures for the protection and preservation of wealth.

Having obtained a degree in Combined Arts at Durham University, he studied the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in York, passing with distinction.

He was named as a key lawyer by the 2020 Legal 500 guide in the area of personal tax, trusts and probate, with interviewees noting "Stuart Smyth is responsive and a pleasure to deal with. I have complete faith in the advice that [he is] providing and feel that we are in safe hands".

Stuart joined MTG in November 2016 having trained and qualified as a solicitor at Penningtons Manches LLP in September 2015.
