WHAT ARE COOKIES?

A cookie is a small text file of letters and numbers which is generated by a website and stored in a folder on your computer. Our website uses cookies. The cookies we use allow us to gather certain information about how our website is used. The information we gather cannot be used to identify you as an individual. Instead the information tells us, for example, which web-pages are the most popular and how many times our website is visited. This information helps us to understand what our on line visitors are most interested in and helps us to make improvements to the site.

The cookies we use are temporary. This means that they will exist on your computer either for the duration of your visit or for a limited period after you leave.

We are required to obtain your consent to use these cookies. We assume that by continuing to use our website you have read our notice on the home page and are happy for us to use the cookies described in this policy.

If you do not wish to receive our cookies you can easily modify your browser settings to refuse cookies, or to notify you when you receive a new cookie. For further instructions on how to stop cookies being installed on your computer, please see: www.allaboutcookies.org/manage-cookies.

We do not collect or store your personal information (e.g. your name and address) so this information cannot be used to identify who you are. We do not allow Google to use or share our analytics data.

To turn off anonymous Google Analytics cookies you can install a Google Analytics browser “plug in” to prevent the website sending information about your visit to Google Analytics. Further information is available at: www.google.com/analytics/learn/privacy.html

Details of the Google Analytics cookies are shown below: –

  • _utma – This is a Google Analytics cookie and tracks the number of times you have visited the MTG website. It expires after 2 years.
  • _utmb and _utmc – These are other Google Analytics cookies and act to calculate how long you have spent on the website in each session. They expire after 30 minutes and when the user exits the browser respectively.
  • _utmz – This Google Analytics cookie tracks what search engine you have visited the site from and which search terms you used to find the website. It expires after 6 months.

  • cookielaw_accepted – This is set when you accept our cookie policy.  It expires after 10 years.

This cookie does not identify any individual user of the website, only the device you are using. You can disable these cookies by modifying the settings in your browser. However, if you do so the pop-up will remain at the top of the screen.
