Sophie Mazzier has more than 30 years’ experience in Private Wealth advice and provides both technical and practical professional legal support to the firm.

Sophie’s technical legal and practical support is a valuable resource for the fee-earning staff. She is an excellent communicator and fulfils the Private Wealth team’s know how and training needs. She monitors legal developments and is involved in producing articles and guides and delivering training on technical legal issues for the team and for clients.

Sophie has extensive experience of assisting those advising high net worth individuals on the full spectrum of non-contentious private client issues, including cross-border tax and succession planning issues particularly those with a philanthropic or charity element.

Sophie has contributed chapters to The Global Guide to Trusts, Tolley’s Trust Drafting, the Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedent and regularly contributes to articles published in the private wealth industry professional journals and for Spear’s Wealth Management Magazine.

In addition Sophie is involved in trainee recruitment and the development and training of trainees and junior solicitors as well as sharing her expertise and experience with lawyers at all levels.

She is a qualified solicitor (October 1991), a member of STEP and became a professional support lawyer in 2000.

In addition to drafting Wills and lasting powers of attorney and providing advice on personal taxation matters, we specialise in the establishment of structures (including trusts, foundations, companies and various forms of partnership) for the protection and preservation of assets ranging from privately owned companies to racehorses, works of art and heritage property to yachts and planes (as well as real estate).

As one of my “O Level” books (yes I am that old), it has remained a favourite and unlike others I enjoyed at that age, it withstood the test of my reading it aloud to my own daughters.

John Steinbeck
My introduction to Steinbeck. I was drawn in from the first page and read it without putting it down the first time (luckily it is short) and then devoured everything else he wrote, but this remains a favourite.

A Gentleman in Moscow

Amor Towles
A beautiful meandering tale set in Moscow in the 1920s where the main protagonist, Count Alexander Rostov is sentenced to house arrest by a Bolshevik tribunal and escorted not to his usual suite at the Hotel Metropol but to an attic room. He adapts, apparently seamlessly to his new way of life and befriends a glamorous actress, a grumpy chef and a very serious child. A thrilling story told at a gentle pace.

The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse

A beautiful book in every way – the illustrations, the characterisations, the truths, the friendships, the warmth – a truly “feel-good” book which makes me weep every time I read it.
