Maurice Turnor Gardner promotes three to Counsel and announces new Head of Immigration

Fiona Poole and Ceris Gardner

Maurice Turnor Gardner LLP has announced the promotion of three senior associates to the position of counsel from 1 May 2023, including Colin Senez who has also been appointed Head of Immigration at the firm.

Colin takes on the Head of Immigration role from MTG founding partner Ceris Gardner. Ceris said: ‘Colin is an outstanding immigration lawyer with a fantastic reputation in the industry. I am very pleased to see him stepping into the Head of Immigration role and look forward to continuing to work closely with him as he leads the team.’

Colin has a broad practice, covering both Private Wealth and Immigration. His Private Wealth expertise includes UK and international tax and succession planning, issues and disputes relating to trusts, charities, and complex post-death estate administration (particularly with a cross-border element). Colin qualified in 2014 and has been named as a Key Lawyer by the Legal 500 for his Immigration expertise.

Further Counsel promotions at the firm include Stuart Smyth and Rebecca Waterhouse.

Stuart, who qualified in 2015 and joined MTG in 2016, advises on a wide range of private wealth matters. His expertise includes advising UK-based and international families, entrepreneurs, trustees and family offices on estate planning, cross-border tax and asset holding structures. He also has expertise in private corporate matters such as the reorganisation of established family companies.

Rebecca has a wide range of experience in private wealth matters including tax and estate planning, wills and probate matters, and also advises on the establishment and operation of asset holding structures for a wide range of multi-jurisdictional assets. To compliment her significant Private Wealth practice, Rebecca advises high net worth individuals on the full range of their UK immigration issues. She has been identified as a Rising Star by the Legal 500, an Associate To Watch by Chambers & Partners and has also previously been included as one of ePrivateClient’s Top 35 under 35. Rebecca trained with MTG and qualified in 2015.

Head of Private Wealth Fiona Poole commented: ‘Colin, Stuart and Rebecca are all stars in the team at MTG and it’s been a pleasure to see them develop their own first-rate profiles and practices. We’re delighted to see them taking this next step in their careers, and to be working with each of them as they take on the role of counsel.’
